What is the scariest horror book you have read? I'm still looking for a decent horror book that scares me. I love horror movies as they are visual but don't scare as easy with novels. Reference any good slasher horror books you know to. Cheers.

Hey, Jon! I'm so sorry for the delay. I'm not getting notifications about questions, so I just happened to see this by visiting my Author Dashboard. Anyway…sorry for the delay.
I love your question. I love all kinds of horror, and the scariest book I've ever read is Peter Straub's GHOST STORY. But as far as slasher books that really rock, here are few fast-paced, violent books that really got to me…
OFF SEASON by Jack Ketchum (not slasher, but something I think you'd enjoy)
DARK HOLLOW by Brian Keene (emotional story, but with great action)
THE WOODS ARE DARK by Richard Laymon (this comes closer to the "slasher" genre)
WHEN MICHAEL CALLS by John Farris (fast-paced, twisty)
And I'd be a poor self-promoter if I didn't mention one of my own. SAVAGE SPECIES is my most action-packed, violent novel, and it has garnered a ton of great reviews and blurbs (most recently by Bryan Smith, who's one of the best "slasher" writers working today--for evidence of this, check out his KAYLA books, which aren't as bloody as his others, but are incredibly fast-paced and entertaining).
Thanks for the question, Jon, and I'd love to talk to you further! :-)

Just wanted to say since I've discovered your books I've been missing out, your stuff is amazing, I really loved the siren and the Spector, and I'm reading children of the dark. And since I've been doing my podcast, I've discovered more great horror like yours and Jason parents and Hunter Shea. Thanks for kicking ass can I read some of yours for my podcast?
