Do you agree that all protagonists have to reflect their authors? Do yours reflect you?

Jennifer A. Nielsen All characters come from their authors, and so there is something inside each author that is capable of creating each character with his or her unique qualities. But I don't believe that the protagonist has to be a reflection of their author any more than the villain has to reflect the author. Some of my characters are more like me than others, but all have come from me, so I probably share something with each of them. I hope that makes sense!
