How do you come up with the name's of the characters in your books?

Susan Elizabeth Phillips That’s a really hard question to answer because I do it intuitively. I stay away from names of people I know well. I’ve also changed characters' names as I’ve been writing because they simply haven’t fit. For example, Alex Markov in KISS AN ANGEL was originally Ben. Hard to imagine the now. I changed the name of the heroine in the book I’m currently writing when I was about four months into the process because it didn’t fit her. The life of a writer!
