Hello, my question is … do you have to read the Bess Crawford Series or the Ian Rutledge Series in series book order? And also do you consider your novel clean novels for teenagers 13-18 years? Thanks... Rodney

Charles Todd Firstly, we are a mother/son writing team as there is no sex, graphic violence or inappropriate language. Our books are recommended reading in high schools and we have taught AP English classes as guest speakers. As long as they can understand complicated plots they should be fine.

We try to write each book as a stand-alone work. There is some benefit reading in order to follow the development of the protagonists.

We have many fans in that age group and are delighted they seem to enjoy them.

I like to learn about the novel’s locations & will Google Map them to see where in England we are & distances traveled between towns. The locations are either real (Padstow - No Shred of Evidence) or created (Heyl) that sound similar to existing names (Hayle?), but the real named town can be nowhere near the novel’s setting. How do you choose location names, especially the fictional names modelled after a real name?

Why do you mix Bess Crawford titles with Ian Rutledge titles under BOOKS on your website? I believe it would help readers to have a separate list/webpage for each series. We can see the book order on Goodreads.com, but the list for the Rutledge series does not mention a book 5.5 called JEOPARDY, nor does your website. Is there such a book? I can’t remember where I saw this mentioned. Thank you!
