Francesca asked Hannah Carmack:

What is the best advice you can give someone who is trying to write their first novel?

Hannah Carmack Writing your first book is terrifying! There are a lot of expectations and if you read a lot, it's easy to compare your first draft to a finished product.

It's important to remember that almost no first draft is perfect, or even good most of the time. The best thing you can do right now is to sit down and start writing.

First drafts should be as fun and undisciplined as possible. Once you've started writing, don't stop until you've reached the end. Then, go back, read, revise, and rewrite. :)
