I've just finished reading "The Taking Of Annie Thorne." I loved it. There's a bit of a supernatural "hint" in it, which I really liked. What was your inspiration for this novel? P.S Nice to see some UK novels that are based north of Watford!

I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I went to school in a mining village in Notts in the 80s and years later, I used to walk dogs (I worked as a dog-walker) over one of the old, reclaimed pit sites. I always found something about the area very bleak and I would often think about what lay beneath the ground: the abandoned mines and tunnels. That was really the starting point! x

In The Other People, which I loved by the way, you refer to walking the Green Mile. In most prisons this is referred to as the Last Mile. Was this a deliberate nod to Stephen King, or just another example of how his work is so popular it has come to influence our language, in the way we now call internet searches "googling"?
