Victoria Butler
Victoria Butler asked Sofía Segovia:

Did you grow up telling stories? Is this an innate skill or did you learn this art from a mentor? I found in the murmur of the bees that you kept the reader mentally and emotionally engaged and anticipating and guessing what might come next. It was such a pleasant feeling. Thank you.

Sofía Segovia Dear Victoria,
Sorry it took me so long to answer. I just saw your question!
I was always eager for stories. I had a storyteller for a nanny and I became a reader very early on. I think that's how I learned to spin a story. Becoming a novelist took me a while, though. I did not have a mentor per se, but I did find that joining a creative writing workshop kept me disciplined (something I needed).
I believe that Literature should touch something in us, something deep. And it makes me happy to encounter readers that let themselves be swept away. Thank you!
