Theodora Blanchfield
Theodora Blanchfield asked Lori Gottlieb:

First of all, I loved the book. I've been in therapy for a long time myself, and I always wonder what the therapist is thinking... And I have been considering going back to school myself to become a therapist in my late 30s after working as a writer my whole career. What was it like for you changing careers, and how do you think your writing background helps you as a therapist?

Lori Gottlieb Hi Theodora--glad you liked the book! Writing and therapy are very complementary. Both are all about story, editing one's story, and rewriting faulty narratives. Writing allows you to do what good therapy does--look at a situation through a different lens and point of view. My writing background helps me as a therapist every day.
