Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Alan N. Kay My book, Neither King Nor Country, was truly an evolution of a story if there ever was one. It began with my own genealogy research more than 10 years ago and as I learned more about my family, I needed to learn more about the history of their times. As I read more, I also taught more in my US History classes. I discovered that thousands of people had experiences similar to my family's. Then, finally, I discovered that one of our greatest Founding Fathers had a similar story (Benjamin Franklin) and in fact even more incredible than mine and I knew this was a story I had to write.
