This would be heavily circumstantial.
For example, is this me getting an attunement on Earth? If so, I'd want to ignore attunements that aren't particularly relevant on Earth (e.g. Summoner, since there are no monsters to contract) and focus on something that has a use beyond just the immediate use of magic. I would most likely pick Enchanter, so I could create and distribute magical items.
If I suddenly showed up on Kaldwyn, it would depend on the location, as well as whether or not I spoke the native language and had any resources.
Presuming the simplest scenario - that I show up in Valia, that the Valian language is effectively English, and that I don't have any special resources from Earth - I'd want something that I could build up safely while making money. This would very likely still end up being an Enchanter attunement, but if I'm near a spire, something like Summoner or Soulblade might also be viable. Wayfarer would be another good option for making money, once I get high enough level to offer message-sending and teleportation services.
A restricted attunement like Arbiter might also be useful, simply for prestige.
I would very likely be in an extremely difficult position for at least a few months until I got established.
This all presumes I have to pick a "standard" attunement. An ascended attunement would be my go-to option if I have to pick one, but there isn't enough information on them in the books yet to explain why without spoilers. =)

Andrew Rowe:
At the AA protagonists current levels, I would expect fights against vastly stronger opponents to go more differently. The common explanation for Corin and his friends to survive those battles has been that their opponents were holding back. Especially one fast move from Saffron should have killed Corin. Are there other explanations than the protagonists opponents always luckly holding back?
