After a second Big Bang, remnants of leftover humanity exited their encapsulated bunkers where they'd stocked only the essentials necessary for survival - like food and water - to begin exhaustive searches among the still smoldering landscape.
Days became weeks, weeks became months, until finally, dismal, and dejected, they were left with the fact there were no bookstores, no libraries, even worse, no books, and they looked at one another in horror.
