Goodreads asked Larry Loftis:

What books are on your summer reading list this year?

Larry Loftis Since my manuscript for my next book is due in March, I'm reading all or portions of about 100 WWII books. One that was a simple and fun read was Walter Smith's (head of the American Oil Control Commission in Madrid during the war, which was the cover for most OSS agents there) "Glimpses of Spain." The memoir by Carlton Hayes, the U.S. ambassador to Spain for most of the war, "Wartime Mission in Spain," is an excellent read for anyone wanting an objective evaluation of Franco. Unlike most books on Franco, this one is from a primary source who knew him well.
