Do you prefer reading self-published books, or books within widely known publishing companies? How often do you read indie books?

Honestly, it's hard to say because I don't generally sort what I read as Indie vs Traditionally pubbed. Thanks to deadlines, I don't have nearly as much time to read as I'd like, And when I do, I usually have to default to one of two things:
- a book by an author I'm doing an event with, so I'm familiar with their work during the discussion
- a book by one of my friends, so I am keeping up with all their awesomeness
So it probably does skew more toward traditionally published books, simply because many events are organized by publishers, and many of my friends are traditionally published. But not all of them. I have several friends Indie pubbing, and have read their books as well (and loved them).
I also prefer physical books over eBooks (sorry, eBooks, I'm just not that into you. I'll read them for convenience when I'm traveling, but otherwise I get so sick of staring at yet another screen). And I tend to buy my books from Independent booksellers, since I like to support local businesses. So again, that probably skews more toward traditionally published books, but not as a conscious decision.
Basically, I read things for weird reasons that have nothing to do with the whole Indie vs Traditional debate. So I'm not sure if my answer is all that useful to you, but there you have it! :)

Hi, i know you've probably been asked this question already, but how invested are you in your novels? Like do you research specific subjects to make the story come to life? Do you write what you know or broaden your horizons to create a more in depth plot line? Okay.. that sounded strange, sorry!
