I've always had characters roaming around my head telling stories. Before I went to kindergarten, I had 2 imaginary friends who lived in a secret world you could only access through the "No Dumping" sign in our yard. Since then, my head has been a crowded place full of people in search of fun and happy endings.
Being an author means I get to give these characters life and create worlds for them to inhabit! And guarantee them happy endings.
