As a goodreader, I like to peruse 1-star reviews of books (even ones i like) as the burns can be scintillating. As a writer, do you personally gravitate towards or actively avoid grandstanding negative feedback?

Great question. I read all reviews when people first begin reading a new book of mine (generally in the pre-publication phase). Once I get a sense that people are liking it, I feel better and don't read reviews anymore.

Hi Blake! HUGE FAN! read all your books. I just picked up Ted Chiang's "Stories of Your Life and Others" and found some similarities between your style and his. So much heart and profound meaning buried within a wild futuristic sci-fi story. Did you find inspiration from him or vice versa? Do you know Ted Chiang or have read any of his work? Just curious!!
