Magic book club asked Christine Feehan:

Hi Christine! I'm glad to have the opportunity to ask you a few questions. I heard about you as an author, but only a few days ago I read one of your books (Torpedo ink series). I also found out you were writing other genres and I will definitely read them because I like your writing style. Where do you draw inspiration from your stories? How much time do you have to prepare before putting it all together?

Christine Feehan I start with whatever story my imagination has come up with. I do research first, but that can last throughout the writing of the book. The initial research though, I do up front and it can take a couple of weeks.
As far as inspiration goes-
It starts out with an idea for a single book. All of my books can be read as stand-alone books because that’s my approach with my writing. As I write a book, I start to see the landscape of characters, places and potential.
I’m inspired by everything around me. The wind through the trees, a man in a restaurant leaning to whisper to a woman, the way an animal moves. Anything can inspire me. My Shadow series was inspired by watching my dogs run in and out of shadows. Life around me can inspire some wild ideas in my head.
Like I said, each book is a stand-alone story. You should be able to pick up any book, as a rule, and start reading from any point in the series.
