Hi Michael, I write stories with a friend of mine. We haven't fleshed out the stories into full books but we've made a number stories over the last 3-4 years. Recently, we came to the end of the world we created and I was surprised at how satisfying and painful it was in equal measure to let our characters rest. Have you ever felt something like that?

Hey Jasmine. First congratulations to you and your friend. As to your question. I usually am not saddened right when I finish, because I'm running high on Endorphins from reaching the end. I always like the "final wrap up." But, yes, as time passes, and I'm not "with" my characters any longer I start to miss them.
It's one of the reasons why Royce and Hadrian (and crew) make a comeback through the Riyria Chronicles. When I finished the Riyria Revelations I thought I was done, but myself, and most importantly my wife) missed her adventures with the pair, so four (and soon to be five) new books came into existence.
So, sure, go ahead and write other stuff, but if the heartstrings pul and you feel the need to revisit the world and people in what you thought was a finished series, there is nothing wrong about going back to old ffriends.
I wish you two great success!

I Just stumbled upon your name from my kindle app after finishing the first Novel ( "The Name of The Wind" ) I had read when I decided to pick up reading again. This was to help aprk my childs instreset in reading. Your world looks interesting. I was wondering if I should read the books in chronological or publish date order. My gut says publish date. Which would be the best order to read the series?

I read all of the Riyira books, and I liked most of them and it was time worth spent. But, even after a year and finishing all the books in the chronological order, I still am not sure whether Rhen (forgive me if I'm spelling or writing the name wrong; it has been a long time) from The Crown Tower is pickles or not. So, who is he?
