I recommended Tea Girl to a book group of 20 and then to another group of 6 members. Everyone loved it and raved about it. We even had the Pu'er tea at our meeting. I love ALL your books and would definitely rate them a 5+. I have no question, just a comment?

I love your books and so appreciate the detail that goes into them. I recently finished "On Gold Mountain" (had a hard time putting it down!) How often do you base characters on members of your family and their experiences? Their history is fascinating, and I'm happy to have learned so much about the early Chinese-American experience ... thanks for sharing these courageous, strong, amazing people with us!

Hi Lisa, I just finished the Island of the Sea Women and I loved it! I visited Jeju-do in 2015, and while many of the tourist attractions mentioned in the book were familiar to me, I have no memory of learning about the 4-3 incident, so I was enthralled by this book. I am wondering what sources you relied on to build this story, since it obviously has a controversial history? Thank you for writing it!
