Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Lian Tanner My most recent book is 'Sunker's Deep' (The Hidden #2). It's coming out in Australia/New Zealand in a few weeks, but won't be published in the USA/Canada until 2016. ("Icebreaker', which is the first in this series, is coming out in the US in 2015.) I can't always trace back where the idea for a book came from, but with this one it is very clear. It happened in Chicago a few years ago, in the Museum of Science and Industry. The extraordinary thing about this museum is that it has an entire submarine in its basement, captured from the Germans during the Second World War. What's more, you can go on guided tours of it. As soon as I walked through that hatch into the cramped, oily interior, I knew I was going to write a book set on a submarine. :)
