Hi! I love the Ascendance Series!! Anyway, what are the steps needed to get an agent? And around how much does it cost on average? Thanks in advance!

How to get an agent is a bit enough question that whole books or blogs are dedicated to the topic. Bottom line is this:
1) Write something great.
2) Make it the best you possibly can.
3) Then make it better.
4) Go to someplace like agentquery.com and type in the genre you write, then start researching the names of agents that come up. Begin looking for agents you think would be a great fit for you.
5) Learn to write query letters. There is a lot of material online about this.
6) Start submitting.
7) Fail. Probably a lot. Because that's part of the process, so when you do, look for ways to make your writing better.
8) Repeat 6 and 7, all the time working on improving your writing, until...
9) You get a yes. Then you chat over the phone and figure out if this is the right agent for you. If it is...
10) Sign a contract and now you have an agent.
But most important - the agent will only make money when you make money (generally 15% of your earnings). A good agent will help you earn more than 15% of what you can earn on your own, so that is fair, but you never pay out of pocket for an agent. If they try to charge you and haven't sold anything for you, that is a scam.

Hi, I asked you months ago if you had anything that I could use for an island story where all thrown out given up on story bits go. You gave me an item and I was wondering if you'd be alright with me saying in the story that it was you who made it? Or maybe just your initials in the story and then at the back of the book I write that it was yours. If you don't want me to I won't. Thanks again for the mirror!
