Hi, April! I'd like to say that the idea for The Vault of Dreamers came from dream, but actually it came from a mix of different inspirations. I've always been interested in the elusive, creative possibilities in dreams, and I've wondered what could happen if we could tap into that creativity more. I've also been intrigued by the proliferation of reality TV shows like American Idol and The Biggest Loser which combine fame with personal struggles and longings. I loved teaching high school English, and I'm interested in the arts, so I started playing around with a school of the arts that doubles as a reality TV show, and pretty soon I had all kinds of sinister things happening. I had a fascinating time writing this novel. Thanks for asking!

Caragh- I really enjoyed The Birthmarked Trilogy and was sorry to see it end, but I have read The Vault of Dreamers and really enjoyed it as well. Was it difficult to jump into a whole new set of characters? PS- I am VERY happy to hear that you are working on a Vault 2, because I would really like to know where this story progresses from the end of the first book! : )
