Saura asked McCaid Paul:

What is your advice to young aspiring writers?

McCaid Paul My advice to young aspiring writers would be to read widely in many different genres. In this way, a writer can become familiar with various writing styles, plot/structure techniques, and possibly trigger new ideas by absorbing other’s words. These are all steps a writer follows when finding their “voice.” I would also advise aspiring writers to develop an outline well in advance of beginning those first couple chapters, as most young, and sometimes even experienced, writers become discouraged when they aren’t certain of what happens next. And, of course, never be afraid to share your work with others. Use their criticism to your benefit! Know it takes time, effort, practice, and much patience, but if you treat it like a job instead of a hobby (i.e. setting writing goals and word counts throughout the week), you are already on track to success!
