It amazes me that you write often and so well (I've read four so far and currently reading "The Red Lotus") You never use unnecessary words and seem very well-researched -- I appreciate that! How do you find the time?

Thank you so much, PJ. I'm deeply honored by your kind words and your questions. Yes, I always do my homework: when I have "writer's block," it usually means that I need to "learn" something concrete to resume the scene and regain my momentum. And I love the dictionary. It fascinates me. As part of my process, I begin my day by picking out a word or two that I have never used before, but sounds interesting. Finally, I am pretty focused. I get up, walk my dog, and then get to my desk -- and I don't move until a late lunch. I try to write a thousand words everyday. Thanks again for a great question.

I was intrigued by the extensive background on sleep disorders in "The Sleepwalker". As I was reading, I got the impression that you became interested in it because parasomnias are one of the mechanisms by which people end up behaving against their volition - and so you end up with tremendous potential for conflict, as you showed in the Ahlberg's marriage. What made you become interested in that? Thank you.
