Nedam asked Sebastien de Castell:

Greatcoats mean so much to me. My whole youth I was very ill and thus alone with a lot of nasty experiences so characters who manage to remain idealistic and friends are so inspiring and uplifting. Despite being a grown woman I wept in many scenes. I can't read on my own anymore but my mom is reading it to me again and loves it too. Q: Your site mentions "upcoming Greatcoats Encyclopedia". Is that still in the works?

Sebastien de Castell Hi Nedam,

Thanks for your kind words about the Greatcoats, I'm really pleased to hear the series was meaningful for you. I cry during some of those scenes, too, and being the author, I really should be immune.

We put together a Greatcoats Encyclopedia a couple of years ago largely because I needed a way to keep track of all the characters and major events in the world. My publisher expressed a desire to put it out in book form but not until we'd published the first couple of books in the new series. I'm still debating with myself whether to publish it through them or on my own. It's very much a niche item, though, as I'm not sure how many people would really want a 400-page book of Greatcoats lore.

So, nothing on that front yet, but probably in the next year or so.

Best,

Sebastien
