What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Jane C.R. Reid Writing is tough and a lot of patience is required. It is not just a case of getting ideas down on paper, but editing, formatting, publishing and marketing, all of which I do single-handedly, though there is help out there if you're prepared to pay for it. There's a lot of free advice too, particularly on sites such as YouTube. My advice is to be patient and persevere. The satisfaction you'll get when you see the end end result will definitely be worth it.
