Hey Katie! Not exactly a question here, just want you to know that your books have really helped me a lot. I read all your books during the lockdown, and believe me when I say that they got me through some rough days. So thank you. Now that I'm actually writing this, might as well ask you something... Has this pandemic affected your writing in any way? Would the next book be something different?

Hi Teetas Sinha Mahapatra,
Frist off, thank you for the amazing message. I'm so happy to hear you have enjoyed my books and that they helped you through the pandemic.
Has the pandemic affected my writing?
Short answer: yes. That and a combination of other personal things that happened in my life made it very hard for me to focus on a YA Contemporary. In my books, I usually tackled tough issues, and I found that I couldn't focus on tough stuff. I was already in a rough place personally before the pandemic happened and then the pandemic just made the dark feel darker. I found happiness in writing A Wicked and Beautiful Garden. It is an adult paranormal book that was fun to write. And I discovered that was what I needed--an escape from reality.
Thank you again for this message!

Katie McGarry:
Dear Katie, I hope you don't mind that I called you Katie and not by your last name? I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you. I started to read your books in middle school (I am now a freshman in college). Your books gave me a reason to read. I used to struggle with reading and hated it. One day, I came across your books and fell in love. I still read your books to this day. So, Thank you—Charlee S.
