Katy McAteer
Katy McAteer asked Charles Todd:

I’m loving the Rutledge series & I’m reading them in order but I’m confused. In Gate Keeper, Miklson is Acting Chief SI but in Black Ascot Jamison is the CSI with no explanation. Also Kate asked Ian to a Christmas party in Gate Keeper but in Ascot he keeps remembering a terrible run in with Kate’s mother where she warned him off. I can’t find a book between them that I missed. Please help. Very confused?

Charles Todd Dear Katy:

Milkson and Jamison were acting CI and ultimately replaced with Markham. It is covered in A Divided Loyalty the book after A Black Ascot. I hope this helps.

As to the Christmas party mentioned on page 388 at the end of the Gatekeeper, On page 165 of The Black Ascot we mentioned the disasterious Christmas party. Kate askes Rutledge to take her to lunch and so the story moves on. We have to be judicious how much of Ian's personal story takes up the case he is working to solve.

I hope this helps.

All the Best,

Charles
