How do you get inspired to write?

Evan Currie The answer to that can change from moment to moment. Sometimes a song will strike a chord and I'll link it to a scene I want to write, sometimes something I see on TV or in another book hits me and I think of a variation of what I just saw or even something entirely different. Inspiration itself is wonderful when it happens, but don't count on it... a muse can be a flighty thing. Most of the time it's better to have good discipline in storytelling, just keep attacking a plot until you get through it.

It's not as pretty, or as spectacular, as inspiration... but it won't fail you in a pinch.
