Tenebrism asked Josh Lanyon:

Dear Josh Lanyon, How will your future books deal with the pandemic? I, personally, like it if media addresses the new reality, but I also understand that others read/write for escape. So I don't think there is such a thing as a wrong approach, but I'm curious which one you will take.:)

Josh Lanyon Dear Tenebrism,

That's an interesting question.

Initially, when I believed the pandemic would end, I didn't want to date my books with obsolete historical references.

Now I give the planet about a decade, so I think it's all moot.

I'M KIDDING.

Or am I?

The final AE coda will probably be set during the pandemic. But for series that did not begin during the pandemic, I want them to feel timeless--my characters do not age in real time--so there will probably be no reference to the pandemic.

New series, new standalones, might make note of the pandemic, though current events are rarely a thing in my books.
