Do you believe consciousness can be explained in terms of neuroscience?

Brian Clegg It's a good question - part of the problem is, of course, even establishing what consciousness is - as I mention in my book What Do You Think You Are? some suggest that there is no such thing.

At the very least neuroscience has a strong influence on consciousness, but I don't think we can say definitively either way.

Brian, what is your prognosis for humanity given the existential threats of overpopulation, ecocide, climate chaos, melting ice caps, nuclear threats (wars or meltdowns of coastal reactors); plus, perhaps most importantly, we are likely to run out of all non-renewable and many renewable resources in less than 30 years making any sort of green energy plan ridiculous and redundant? Going to Mars is not an option. Hmm.
