Hi Michael, I just reread the Riyria books and came across Albert Winslow's introduction to Prince Alric. Albert came from a "rocky patch of dirt on the Bernum River" - Albert hails from Dureya?
Michael J. Sullivan
Or at least where Dureya used to exist ;-). Re-reading across the various series is a lot of fun because there are a TON of Easter eggs that connect Riyria, Legends, and The Rise and Fall books. So, yeah, when you first read them - you can't possibly know all the little "winks and nos to people in the know" but for those who do read across the series (and re-read). Then you find out a bunch of little tidbits like that one!

It appears that you aren't planning more Ryria for a really long time. The problem seems to be the time period, I mean you're saying that you could either write pre Ryria or post Ryria. ? My idea is this: You have written about some of their adventures in a particular time period but they must have had more within that time. They weren't always involved in world changing events.

I have read in interviews that you wrote 10 novels before you started working on Riyria. I'm curious to know if you have any intentions to ever publish those works, or if they will remain unread by the public as you develop new worlds to work in? BTW, what happened to the 'stache? It changed your look from "scholarly and somewhat British" to more of a "guy next door" vibe. :)

Just finished the series! One thing that bothered me, though. At the beginning of Theft of Swords, we learn Riyria has been together 12 years. Fast forward to Rise of Empire, even further to Heir of Novron, and we still hear both Royce and Hadrian say they’ve been together 12 years, when we can tell that several years have passed in each volume. For continuity’s sake, shouldn’t this be 15-16 years by the end of HoN?
