What was behind your decision to refer to the main characters in Isolate by their last names? It was quite jarring, especially at the start, though I got used to it. Also, thank you so much for the new series - fascinating world and I enjoyed the first book thoroughly. Looking forward to more.

The simple and instinctive answer is that it felt right for this world, which is far more formal than ours, especially more formal than the present United States. Also, Dekkard comes from the military to his security position, and the military uses last names. He and Ysella start out with a formal working relationship, and she's older and senior to him. None of these are conducive to first names.

I have been reading your novels for many years...one thing I have observed is that you do a splendid job of building to the climax of the story and then within 5 pages the Book is over. Is this done consciously or is just a function of your writing style? Which ever is fine by me, I've just always been curious.

Would you consider making prequels, with completely different characters for the Parafaith war series? What if you highered a ghost writer, or partnered with another writer to build the world? Perhaps, the books could operate from the perspective of different planets, civilizations, and likely a few individuals. Given the rise of AI into writing, is it possible integrate more ethics into our world?
