This book is written in such a way that all types of people, not just lovers of Science, could read it, enjoy it and take away so many messages. What particular message do want people to take away from your book?

It's really meant to just entertain you. There's no deliberate central message that I was pushing. But one that evolved as I wrote was this: Humanity is pretty cool; our natural impulse is to cooperate and help each other overcome whatever nature throws at us.

Mark was always looking forward even in times of trouble and imminent death.Most fictional characters see the most important moments from their past flash before their eyes when they are going to die. Very rarely does Mark reminisce about his family and his old life. Why did you make him that way? Why not throw in some heart-wrenching moments of nostalgia in there?

Your excellent book is so intensely detailed, both with regard to all the McGiverish tinkering with everything from potatoes to communication, as well as remarkably informative about Martian weather and landscapes. Are these interests of yours? Subjects on which you continually keep up to date? Or are you simply the most amazing researcher who writes in the English language.
