A Goodreads user asked Stuart Gibbs:

Hello, I have finished reading one of your books to my son. Unfortunately, I was not pleased due to things that you mentioned in your book. It is unethical to put your own beliefs into your books. The whole book was about climate change, and how you do not like Trump. It's ok to have your own opinion even though its wrong, but it is wrong in a children's book. Please stop putting false beliefs in your books!?

Stuart Gibbs I would argue that almost every author who has ever existed puts their own beliefs in their book. Was it unethical of CS Lewis to promote Christianity in the Chronicles of Narnia or Harper Lee and Mark Twain to takes stands against racism in To Kill A Mockingbird and Huckleberry Finn? I believe that you have the right to your beliefs just as much as I do. If you wrote a book for children claiming that climate change was a hoax, I would not agree with it, but I wouldn't say that it was unethical to write it. However, I do think you are wrong to post misinformation about my book. The whole book is not about climate change and how I don't like Trump. In fact, Trump's name is never mentioned once in the entire story -- and climate change is mentioned only a few times.
