Andy Weir No. He's pretty much my own personality but much smarter than me and without any of my flaws.

First, while writing this or editing it, did you ever consider chopping out viewpoints that are external to "the Martian"? I often felt that the exposition on what was actually going on to get this guy rescued undercut the sense of isolation and the long odds of rescue.
