I've heard that you're a huge Doctor Who fan. I was wondering if you could give us a synopsis of The Martian if the Doctor (of your choice) happened to drop in to rescue Mark Watney at any point in the story? What kind of problems would they run in to along the way?

Andy Weir If there was no outside influence, it would be extremely simple for the Doctor to rescue Mark. Just a quick trip in the TARDIS back to Earth and they're done.

However, because it's the Doctor Who universe, there are a number of very serious threats on Mars. The Ice Warriors, Sutekh, and The Flood (the water-borne zombie virus thing from "The Waters of Mars") just to name a few.
