Was super excited to see that we can ask you questions here! I've read all of your historical fiction books and am obsessed with every one. I've yet to find an author that can quite measure up. My absolute favorites are the ones based in old China, like Peony in Love. You mentioned to another reader you don't currently have plans to write for a similar time period, but do you have any recommendations?
Lisa See
Greetings, Scarlett! I bet that was an old answer to a question, because I'm just finishing a new novel that takes place two centuries earlier than Peony in Love. I'm sorry to say that it won't come out until 2023. Have you read my book Snow Flower and the Secret Fan? That one takes place in the 18th century. I'm trying to think of what other novels I know that take place in ancient China that I could recommend, but I'm stumped. I just did a search on Google and most of what came up was far more contemporary. I wish I could be of more help.

Thank you for your moving, informative, lyrical books about China, women and Chinese American experience. While reading Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, I finally booked a trip to China in 2017, visiting highlights, a cruise on the Yangtze, and memorable day in fascinating Wuhan. On the river, I struck up a conversation with a lovely young Chinese woman who had also read Tea Girl. Unforgettable. Hope to return someday.?

Hello Ms See, I have just finished reading your two books, "Shanghai Girls" and "Dreams of Joy" and enjoyed both tremendously. They depict the changes that occurred in China from the pre-to post-revolution beautifully. I have always been interested in China having been close to Pearl Buck who was the first American writer to write about that country. I'd love to know what you think of her books? Eva F.
