Snow Flower and the Secret Fan was my very favorite of your novels. It was also the first one I read. My neighbor, who is Chinese American gave it to me and it opened up wonderful stories of his mother in China who refused to have her feet wrapped. You may history very approachable. Do you do most of your research online or do you travel to China and visit libraries and museums?

Ms. See. Did you grow up in America and/or both countries determining that China's history needed to be told? Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is my favorite. The fan being a source for sending messages was fascinating to me. War and strife are inevitable topics. I love that we learn the hidden stories in your books. You are in my top 10 authors. Hi Lisa. Ever since I read "Snowflower and the Secret Fan" you have been my favorite author. I live in NYC and I keep checking to see if you will be giving any talks here, or any book signings or any appearances. I'd love to attend! Do you every plan on making any appearances on the east coast, esp NYC?
