Griffin asked Stuart Gibbs:

Hello Mr. Gibbs, I was wondering why you announce books so early? I get that it is for marketing, but since SS 11 is already announced we know that Ben will be fine in SS 10. Maybe announce books afterwards. Just a thought to keep more suspense in the series.

Stuart Gibbs I not ever going to suddenly kill Ben off and end the series, so I don't think there should be any suspense as to whether or not he is going to survive each book. Just because there is an SS11 doesn't mean Ben will be perfectly fine at the end of SS10.

And for the record, usually people are writing to me asking the opposite of what you are asking. They want to know if there will be more books in the series. They even ask after reading a book that ends on a cliffhanger. That's why I announce the books so early. It makes sense to me to let my readers know that there will be another book and the adventure will continue.
