Abigail asked Issabelle Perry:

How do you focus on finishing books? I have so many ideas to start books, but most of them end up being stopped at page 3. Do you have any motivational tips? Jesus loves you, Abigail

Issabelle Perry Oo this is a fantastic question!! Thanks for sending it, Abigail!!! So first, I wanna say that you're not alone. Every single author has faced this at some point in their writing journey. There isn't one way specifically to finish a book because every writer is different and what works and what doesn't varies for every author. If you're having a hard time sticking with an idea for a whole novel, maybe attempt writing a short story or novella first. You can get the joy of finishing a work must faster and gradually build up your stamina to stay with projects longer. Another trick, if you have a lot of ideas, is to write an opening chapter for each idea. Which one are you still the most excited for? Which chapter did you enjoy the most? Then go with that project. From there, I find it very helpful for me to set aside writing time. I'll get up a couple of hours earlier in the morning and write before school. I have more energy in the mornings so it's the perfect time for me to write, and my house is usually a lot quieter. But just having that specific writing time that's all to myself and nothing can get in the way of really helps me a ton to finish novels. Another trick is to have weekly or daily writing goals, something small that you can achieve. Maybe that's five hundred words a day or two thousand words every week. Make it one you know you can achieve. For motivational tips, I suggest finding someone who is just excited about your work as you are. This could be a friend, a family member, etc. You can support each other (if you're both writers) and encourage each other to keep going. Other tips would be to have a playlist for your book or a Pinterest board or something else that brings excitement to work. On my website, I have an article up that includes lots of advice. There's a section in there on staying motivated if you're interested in reading more: https://www.teenwritersnook.com/2022/...

I hope this helps and if you have any further questions, just let me know. :) Keep writing because you've got this!!!! I'm cheering you on all the way!!!!
(And Jesus is the best!! *high fives*)
