Aya is defiant and strong in many ways, but she's also very vulnerable (don't tell her I said that, she would never forgive me). She's used to doing things on her own - caring for her family, living in the mountains - and when she's forced to come to the city, she's lost in many ways. I really loved writing her, and hope that she's a character that sticks with people long after they put the book down.
