Once, when I lived near a busy street, I looked out the window and saw a boy skateboarding by. He abruptly leapt off his board, threw it purposefully into the bushes, and kept running. Then he came back and collected his board. Sometimes I still think about that moment, and wonder what kind of YA-protagonist that kid was, and what secret monsters he was fighting. Because, let's face it: That's the only logical conclusion to jump to.
