Hi Marci! In the original saga, Svan disappeared into--was received into?--the mountain Kaldbakshorn.
In Thief Eyes, I no more know than anyone else what happened to him after his encounter with Odin. I like to think in some way, something of him lived on.
I actually drove by Kaldbakshorn when I was in Iceland! Here are a couple off blog posts written soon after about my attempt to find Svan's mountain.
