I'm new to your books. Do the different series connect to each other or are they self contained? Where is a good jumping in point?
L.E. Modesitt Jr.
Each of the fantasy series takes place in a different fantasy universe with a different magic system. Within each series are "sub-series" featuring different protagonists. The events in the Recluce series (which is the longest) take place across more than 2,000 years.
The first published book in the Recluce series is "The Magic of Recluce," but the first book in the internal chronology is "Magi'i of Cyador" (since I didn't write the books in chronological order).
The first and best entry book for The Imager Portfolio is "Imager."
The first and best entry book for "The Corean Chronicles" is "Legacies."
The first and best entry book for "The Spellsong Cycle" is "The Soprano Sorceress.
The newest fantasy series is "The Grand Illusion", and the first book is "Isolate."
On the SF side, the first book in the "Ghost" series is "Of Tangible Ghosts."
Other SF "first books" are "The Timegod," "The Ecologic Envoy, " and "Dawn for a Distant Earth."

Hello , I don't really have a question for you . I just wanted to say Thank You!!! Your books have been enjoyed by me and my youngest son many times. I feel as though they helped to bridge some of the difficult teenage years because we could always talk about your books even if we found nothing else to say! I guess i am asking if you plan on writing forever? Maybe his children can use them the same way we did.
