Goodreads asked Surajit Roy:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Surajit Roy You don't need to have a lot of words to be a good writer. You can be creative with the words you have. Sometimes it is bad for writers to have too many words because they only use words, they know the meaning of and they forget the first rule of writing: Show, don’t tell. Picture books are a great way for young writers to learn about how to use language to create images and hold a reader's attention. They can also experiment with different tones and forms, like poetic form. It is to feel something when you write. If you don't feel anything, then it's not working. It's important to show your writing to other people and find out what they love about it.
