Thomas O. Scarborough
Thomas O. Scarborough asked Alesha Escobar:

What do trilogies do for a story, for you? Compared with a single volume.

Alesha Escobar I remember reading Don Quixote, a whopping 1,000 pages! A fantastic, classic read--but LONG.

While it could be argued that three books could just be one volume, I believe a trilogy is meant to capture certain distinct phases of a story. For example, Dante Alighieri's DIVINE COMEDY, which includes: Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise.
