I teach freshmen. Do you have a go-to book rec (middle grades and/or YA) for fans of your books? I am a huge fan and love that so many of my students are, too!

Rick Riordan Thanks for teaching! It has been almost thirty years since I taught freshmen, so my recommendations would not be very good. I don't have a single go-to book. So much depends on the reader. You might start just browsing my Goodreads reviews, as I usually post thoughts on the books I enjoyed most. They are not all right for young adult readers, but some certainly are. The Rick Riordan Presents authors are all amazing, too, in my totally biased opinion, and many of them do YA as well as middle grade. Worth checking out! Good luck and happy reading!

Do you think that, when trying to create a story, it is more important to first be somewhat sure of the outline of the world and the plot before starting to shape the characters, or rather the other way round? Also, thank you for having chosen to tell your stories to the whole world. I am deeply thankful.
