Katherine Watson
Katherine Watson asked Charles Todd:

Will you ever allow Ian Rutledge to marry and have a life outside of his investigations? I am ready for Ian to move on with Hamish in the far background and see Ian have a partner to confide in.

Charles Todd Dear Katherine:

Thank you for writing! I am very happy you enjoy the series.

A few things to consider. Rutledge returned to the yard in 1919 and in the manuscript I just turned in it is mid summer of 1923. Rutledge has met some women and was especially attached to Meredith Channing. So far, he has not met the right person. What about Kate? Time will tell...

Some people thought Bess Crawford was a possibility. There are two reasons why that is impossible. First, Bess was neved intended to be with Ian. She his her own person and has other interests. Second, Ian does not need a nurse. As he adjusts to his Shell Shock he might be ready. Sadly, PTSD does not go away with the wave of a wand. I hope your read A Game of Fear which has some interesting things about Ian's future and the next one I just turned in continues that journey.

All the Beast,
Charles
