Hi Neil... Why does Andromeda's supermassive black hole still have no name? And... What comes first, "The Sun swallowing the Earth" or "Andromeda colliding with the Milky Way"? From what I see, both events occur in 5 billion years. Always grateful :)

The Andromeda Black Hole is called SagA* Pronounced: "Sagittarius A-Star"
Not very exciting.
The collision between Andromeda and the Milky Way will be long and drawn-out. Occurring a few billion years after the Sun swells to become a Red Giant and vaporizes Earth.

Hey Neil! I had a question about supernovas. So I understand how a star could collapse once it has produced too much iron and runs out of fissionable material and loses the outward pressure from the nuclear reactions. But what causes it to then rebound outwards and explode?

I've been reading "Project Hail Mary." OK, it's science fiction, but there was a part when a character didn't know anything about relativity and was surprised that he had extra fuel at the end of his relativistic travels. That doesn't seem right. OK, there is time dilation, so the trip doesn't take as long as he thought, but doesn't his mass get bigger as he goes faster--needing more fuel to accelerate his ship?
