Of all the places in the world, where would you still like to go and why?

Frances Mayes I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get to go to Egypt. Seems like I've planned it often and then some upheaval happens. I'd like to go just for the same reason anyone would! I'm intrigued, too, with India for its complex culture and cuisine. More immediately, I am planning a trip back to Portugal which I wrote about in A Year in the World. Loved the country, the fado, the food.

In Under Magnolia, (and all your work, really...) the rich sound details ~~ "I imagine fleas and snoring and sweat and couplings.." weave through the narrative as well as the beautiful scents of memory, "an outbreak of quartz, a clutch of blue bachelor's buttons" and I wonder what path in the present enticed you to begin the walk back to Fitzgerald?
